How Invisalign® works
Your specialist orthodontist will create a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the movements of your teeth.
Your Invisalign® aligners apply the appropriate force to alter the position of your teeth gradually and gently over time. You'll receive a sequence of aligners, changing to a new set every two weeks to achieve your new, straighter smile.

Your specialist orthodontist will assess your dental health, discuss your smile goals and check your eligibility for Invisalign® treatment.

We’ll take photos and panoramic X-rays, and put together a bespoke treatment plan to help you achieve a straighter, more confident smile. The impressions we take of your mouth will be sent to the Invisalign® lab, for your custom aligners to be made.
wear your aligners
You will receive a series of custom-made aligners to wear every day and change at home. You’ll need to switch to a new set of aligners around every 2 weeks, and see your orthodontist at our London E20 practice every 6-8 weeks, so we can check on progress.
Enjoy your new smile
You should start noticing a difference in your smile within a few weeks of wearing your Invisalign® aligners. Once your treatment plan is complete, we will give you retainers to maintain your new smile.

The duration of Invisalign® treatment varies based on individual factors like the complexity of the case and patient compliance. On average, treatment can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. Mild cases might see results in a shorter time frame, while more complex issues may require longer treatment. Regularly wearing the aligners as directed by your orthodontist is crucial for optimal results within the estimated timeframe.
For effective results, it's important to wear your Invisalign® clear aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except water), and to brush and floss your teeth. Adhering strictly to the prescribed wear schedule as advised by your orthodontist maximises the effectiveness of the treatment.
Invisalign® aligners may cause slight discomfort or pressure during the initial days of wearing a new set as they gradually shift your teeth. This discomfort is normal and typically subsides within a few days as the mouth adjusts. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help alleviate any discomfort in the meantime.
Invisalign® aligners are made of a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack®. This material is FDA-approved and deemed safe for dental use. It contains no latex, BPA, gluten, or BPS. Extensive testing and clinical studies support its safety and efficacy in orthodontic treatment, offering a comfortable and reliable teeth straightening option for patients.
Invisalign® clear aligners are designed to resist staining, but certain foods and drinks like coffee, tea, and wine may cause discolouration, so you should remove your aligners for eating and drinking. Regular cleaning and proper maintenance, including brushing the aligners with a soft toothbrush, can help minimise staining and keep them looking clear.
